San Rafael is a mythical creature from the Cerrado region of Brazil. Despite its name, it is a winged being covered with orange feathers that protect a semi-human body, leaving its bust exposed. The bird has the face of an angel hiding behind a majestic beak. If it flies in front of the sun, with its powerful wings, it leaves the plantations of the Cerrado region sheltered under its shadow. Its beak is visible from the ground once it takes flight and is easily confused with a flame that seems ready to hurt the sky. The San Rafael bird flies every night to the most remote corners of the Earth, where humans have not yet reached. It impregnates in its beak and tears out with its claws the hidden essences of the purest nature before setting out for home. The bird has been exploring the face of the Earth for centuries, and all the colorful aromas it picks up are scattered throughout the fields of Cerrado, where coffee plants with unique hues grow. When we consume the coffee of these fruits, we taste the result of a centennial journey connected with our beloved planet (https://mareterracoffee.com/en/blog/centuries-of-history-for-a-coffee).
