The Johnston family has coffee at their roots. Shaun and Stephanie met in 2000 while working together in a coffee shop. Shaun managed a coffee shop for many years, and they eventually bought a mobile coffee trailer long before the food truck craze began. Since moving to Spain, they began searching out the best specialty coffee in each town they visit. After moving to San Roque, Cádiz, they discovered a lack of quality specialty coffee in the area. Armed with their passion for coffee and experience in the industry, they launched Refugio Coffee Roasters. Refugio seeks to be just that, a refuge for other coffee enthusiasts.

With a commitment to ethical sourcing and roasting exceptional quality coffee, the Johnstons hope to bring an at-home experience comparable to that found in any café. The Johnstons have a deep love for family, faith, and coffee, and they long to share their love of coffee with you. We won’t be surprised if you quickly change from customer to friend.

Proceeds support Refugio Ministries, which partners with global ministries to counsel and mobilize cross-cultural workers making the name of Jesus known in every nation.
